The SOPAC Mapserver was installed in July 2003. See the SOPAC/EDF8 Islands System Management Project for more information on how these sites were implemented.


The Cook Islands Mapserver was installed in October, 2006.
A training was also conducted which included private and Public sector representation.The Mapserver is housed at the Ministry of Works.The Ministry of Works (MOW) was set up originally as the Ministry of Supportive Services under the Supportive Services Act 1994 and later renamed under the Public Service Identification of Departments Order of 2000.

The Federated States of Micronesia Mapserver was installed in June 2007.
A training was also conducted from the 12th-14th June 2007 to which 14 participants attended. The mapserver is located at the Statistic Unit. It is FSM's official statistical information agency with a mission to promote, develop and provide relevant and timely statistics on the socio-economic activities, as the basis for information, decision making, research and discussion, to all persons and organization; therefore contributing to improving the welfare of the people of FSM.

The Fiji Islands Mapserver was the second to be installed in the Pacific in mid-December 2003.
The Mineral Resources Department which houses the Fiji Map Server, is part of the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. The department is the National Geological Survey and Mining Organisation of the Republic of Fiji Islands. The Fiji Mapserver Training was held at the end of July 2003. Participants were from the Mineral Resources Department, Public Works Department, Telecom Fiji and Forestry.During the 3-day session the participants added data from each of their respective agencies.

The Kiribati Mapserver was the fourth to be installed during the 12th to the 25th of January 2004.
This was followed with a training session on its maintenance and a workshop for stakeholders in uploading data and updating the site.It was officially presented to the Government of Republic of Kiribati through the National Representative to SOPAC. The server is sited in the Ministry of Fisheries & Marine Resources Development.

The Marshall Islands Mapserver was installed in November 2007.
It is located at the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority.

The Niue Mapserver was installed in early September 2007 at the Department of Justice, Lands and Survey.

The Palau Mapserver was installed in October 2007 at Office of the PALARIS (Palau Automated Land And Resource Information System).

The PNG Mapserver was installed in August 2004 and officially presented to the Government of Papua New Guinea through the National Representative to SOPAC.
It is sited in the Department of Mining.Early in Dec’04,a training on Mapserver usage was provided to officers of PNG Water Board, Technical Division. During the latter half of Dec’04, further Mapserver training was undertaken at the Provincial centers of Madang, Wewak and Vanimo.

The Mapserver was installed in Samoa in March 2005.
It was presented to the Government of Samoa through the National Representative to SOPAC. This was followed by a training of twenty participants representing a wide variety of stakeholders from Meteorology, Electric Power Corporation, Forestry, Planning & Urban Management Agency,Works Transport & Infrastructure, Computer Services Ltd, Samoa Water Authority, Mapping & Survey Sections of Lands, National Disaster Management Office, Statistics and SPREP.

The Solomon Islands Mapserver was installed at the Ministry of Geology and Mines in Honiara in October 2006.
Subsequently Mapserver training workshop was conducted and was attended by participants from key government and private sector groups.

The Tonga Mapserver was the first to be installed in October 2003 at the Ministry of Lands and was officially presented to the Government of Tonga through the National Representative to SOPAC, Tevita Malolo.
A training workshop was held from the 10th October 2003 to 14th October,2003 stakeholders from Tonga contributed directly to the Mapserver. Workshop participants from the Ministry of Lands and Survey, Ministry of Fisheries, Tonga Communication Corporation (TCC), Tonga Water Board, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry added important data layers of geographical information from each of their respective agencies.

The Tuvalu mapserver was the seventh to be installed in the Pacific on the 18th of October, 2004.
It was officially presented to the Government of Tuvalu through the National Representative to SOPAC. The server is located in the ICT Department of the new Government Buildings. A subsequent Mapserver training course was well attended by 19 government and non-government representatives, spanning DOE, CSD,Police, Maritime Inst, Health, Fisheries, Lands & Surveys, Home Affairs & Rural Development, Media Corp, Energy, PWD, ICT Dept, & Tourism.

The Vanuatu Mapserver was installed in March 2004.
The uploaded data include a portion of the VANRIS datasets The installation represented the fifth Mapserver to be installed by the Project and was officially presented to the Government of Vanuatu through the National Representative to SOPAC. Sited in the Department of Lands.
