What is it?
Pacific Disaster Net - http://www.pacificdisaster.net - is the new web portal for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in the Pacific region. It has been launched in September 2008.

It is a living collection and made available through the Internet and alternative media and relating to:

• Governance
• Risk assessment
• Early warning and monitoring
• Risk reduction measures
• Disaster management
• Training and Tools

The information is in a range of formats including reports, data inventories, maps, contacts, web links and more. The portal aims to provide different but simple and intuitive ways to search for relevant information.

Who is using it and how ?
The portal is a valuable resource to all Disaster Risk Management partners working in the Pacific region including government agencies, regional bodies, non-government organisations and international agencies.
Pacific Disaster Net provides access to Disaster Risk Management information and facilitates planning and decision-making in Disaster Risk Reduction, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.

Who are we?
The portal is being developed by a partnership between SOPAC, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. These agencies are part of the larger Pacific Partnership Network Initiative assisting Pacific Island Countries to develop and implement National Action Plans for Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management.
