A new breed of ICT professionals in the Pacific Islands
The skills of the following Pacific Island Professionals were developed through capacity building in Free Open Source Software (FOSS) in the aim to alleviate ICT software costs. Understanding and working with FOSS has allowed these professionals to refuse “black box solutions and has ensured their independence from any provider or consultant company. Working in a worldwide Project such as Tikiwki and Mapserver has built their skills in agile development which brings a level of competency on top of University of the South Pacific Computer Science courses.
