Project Intervention Area: Formal notification was received in late August 2005 that Pohnpei has been selected as the State for Project intervention.
Activities completed or in progress..
- 1st multi-stakeholder consultations in Pohnpei in late 2004
- Completed SWATH mapping needs assessment.
- Marine bathymetry survey conducted in Pohnpei.
- Processing, analysis and development of bathymetric data is in process.
- Discussions with FSM on locating Map Servers equipment ordered.
- From April to May 2006, Aggregates & Coastal Processes Adviser, Arthur Webb made a visit to Pohnpei, conducting various meetings, site visits and addressing the following areas:
- Swath Mapping
- Terrestrial aggregate tasks
- Near shore dredging
- Community awareness and capacity building
- Recommend single dredge site for each municipality
- Outer-island erosion issue.
