Community Lifelines Programme - Energy Sector Staff
 | Paul Fairbairn, Manager Community Lifelines Programme, provides the overall management and coordination role for the activities carried within the energy, water and information and communication technologies sectors of the Community Lifelines Programme. Responsibilities of the position also includes the coordination between the Community Risk Programme, the Ocean and Islands Programme, and Corporate Services Division. In addition, specific assistance and support is provided to the energy sector in the areas of energy policy, database, planning, development, strategic management, energy efficiency and conservation, and training for the Pacif ic that covers a wide and diverse range of energy technologies with a particular focus on new and renewable energy technologies and resource assesment. Qualifications include a BE (Civil) (Auckland University, NZ), Diploma in Financial Economics (University of London), Member of Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand. |
 | Rupeni Mario, Energy Adviser – his work engages in a range of energy sector activities requiring the provision of policy and technical advice, development of projects, project planning and coordination, the provision of technical and policy assistance to member countries as well as other activities as required to be performed in delivery of the SOPAC Community Lifelines Programme. He has a BSc in Physics and Mathematics from USP with a dissertation on the efficiency and general performance of the SOLCO solar water heater. |
 | Ms Arieta Gonelevu, Senior Project Officer - Energy. Arieta has worked for the Fiji Department of Energy for eight years responsible for the development of the national energy sector and the implementation of renewable based (hydro, solar, biomass, wind) technologies. She is familiar with gender mainstreaming into energy development activities. Ms Arieta has a Bachelor of Technology (Electrical/Electronics Engineering) from USP, Fiji and a Master of Science (Renewable Energy) from Murdoch University, Australia. Arieta started her contract with SOPAC on 1st May, 2008. |
 | Mrs Koin Etuati, Project Officer - Energy joined the Community Lifelines Programme in June 2006. She is providing assistance and contributing to the various activities of the Energy Section in achieving the implementation of the Pacific Islands Energy Policy. She is assisting with the development of synergies between energy and climate change and more so towards the voluntary participation of the Pacific Islands member countries in the Clean Development Mechanism under the Kyoto Protocol of the United Nation Framework on climate Change Convention & Kyoto Protocol. |
 | Pooja Pal, Programme Assistant – Community Lifeline, joined SOPAC in November, 2005. She is contributing to the implementation of the SOPAC Vision and its Strategic Directions and is taking responsibilities for the overall provision of assistance to the Community Lifelines Programme. |
 | Frank Vukikomoala, Project Officer – Energy started with SOPAC in March, 2007. He completed his BSc degree on Physics and Chemistry in 2004 and has also completed his post-graduate diploma studies at USP at the end of 2006. Frank’s primary activities is to provide assistance and work with countries in helping them collate their energy data, update their energy supply/demand databases leading to the preparation and publishing of Country Energy Statistics Yearbooks. |
 | Atishma Lal, Energy Support Officer, joined SOPAC in July, 2008. She has completed her Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science in 2008. She is providing assistance in the web page designing of Energy Section and work with the compilation and publication of technical reports and also updating of the pricing template for petroleum products. |
