Arrangement
The Pacific Island Energy on Sustainable Development Partnership (PIESD) primary thematic focus is sustainable development of SIDS and energy for sustainable development.
The Energy Unit as part of the Community Lifelines Programme of SOPAC would provide the coordination and implementation of the partnership. This mechanism would also take into consideration and as appropriate incorporate other organisations and stakeholders that have an interest or are involved in energy sector initiatives (SPC, SPREP, PPA, USP, UN, GEF, ADB, etc).
The Partnership Facilitator (based at SOPAC) is responsible for implementing the core functions of the partnership liaising between the regional stakeholder groups and donor governments; international organizations, financial institutions, and private sector.
The leading partner is the CROP through the Energy Working Group (EWG) which will coordinate, report and monitor the initiative. Where baseline information are required these will be established prior to the commencement of the scheduled activities and as required interim reporting at the specified periods provided by countries or relevant regional organisations.
As appropriate there will also be the publication of technical reports that will be distributed nationally, regionally and internationally. Internet and web sites will also be utilized to assist in the dissemination of information so as to increase the awareness of other interested parties in respect to this programme activities and initiatives.
If you have any comments on this partnership initiative or would like to make contributions or be further involved please contact the partnership facilitator - Paul Fairbairn, Manager Community Lifelines Programme:-
