|
|
SOPAC will be working with Live and Learn Environmental Education in the Pacific on World Water Day campaign.
“Sanitation for Healthy Pacific Communities? will be used as the Pacific regional theme. The theme encourages the people in the Pacific to ensure safe sanitation and hygiene practices are used. Activities would include:
- raising public education and awareness on water and sanitation
- development of educational materials (with special emphasis on hand washing)
- incorporating education into school/community programmes
- promoting healthy, sustainable and equitable use of water
Educational awareness materials include:
- WASH HANDS Posters – demonstrate when you need to wash your hands; emphasis is put on proper hand washing
- Stickers on hand washing – these can be pasted in key areas such as above the sinks in houses, in school/office toilets, near rainwater tanks and is mostly targeting students but at the same time adults as well.
- Fact Sheet on importance of sanitation and related health impacts due to lack of sanitation and hygienic practices.
